Lüdingworth Osterende
A very rare photo that was probably taken in the autumn of 1944. Klaus Rysak, born in 1913, was a farm worker on the Peters farm in Lüdingworth Osterende. It shows an Allied bomber squadron flying low towards Hamburg. Klaus Rysak lived in Altenbruch until his death in 2007.

Allied low-flying aircraft flying east, probably between Lüdingworth Osterende and today's federal highway 73. These may be British De Haviland Mosquitos or American Martin B26 Marauders, both fast medium bombers. The Allied air forces apparently often managed to surprise and slip through the tight network of anti-aircraft and barrier batteries in fast low-flying flights. The photo was taken in autumn 1944, the fields have already been ploughed up again. Source: Cuxhaven City Archives, photo ID 9e3-27647, photograph by Klaus Rysak
