The coastal commander North Frisia was the commander for the area of the North Sea coast of Schleswig-Holstein and the mouth of the Elbe from August 1939 to February 1941. The office was created under the name Fortress Commander North Frisia during the renewed militarization of Germany from 1935. Its task was coastal defense and security in the Cuxhaven, Wesermünde, Sylt and Brunsbüttel areas. The unit was directly subordinate to the head of the North Sea naval station. The headquarters was in Cuxhaven. After the invasion of Denmark, the area was expanded again along a strip of the island of Römö. From February 1941, the KBH North Frisia and East Frisia offices were merged to form the Coastal Commander German Bight. The Coastal Commander East Frisia and his staff took over the task of the Coastal Commander German Bight, whose head was also Rear Admiral 'Hans-Hubertus Friedrich Wilhelm von Stosch'. The staff of the coastal commander North Frisia was made available as naval commander "A" for Greece.
